Athletics day

Author: Patricia Grace.

Genre/text type: Short story

Athletics day is a story about two friends who were fascinated about a girl named Keri who was a very athletic & sporty type of person. The two friends had discussed a lot about Keri and what she was good at, she was good at a variety of things but it was running that she was best at.  Mel (one of the friends) had seen Keri run at the inter-schools last year and reckoned it was a real thrill just to watch her. In fact Mel was so astonished and amazed by Keri that she got poetic about it and had compared Keri to a wild African animal (cheetah) running free

English

DLO:

Symbolism in literature. What is it? In cinema, many things can be symbolic. These things could include an object the colour, character, plot, sound, special effects, camera angles and much more. when talking about something representing or standing in for something else in symbolism, that something else is often an abstract - like an idea.

What is a motif? A motif is a repeated narrative component that backs up the theme of a story. A motif can be presented in a number of ways like physical items, sound, design lines of dialogue, music, colours and symbol.

What is subtext? In a play or film, subtext is the underlying message being covered by a piece of dialogue. . .. Actors must act like investigators to identify the true meaning of their dialogue so that they can play the characters sub textual intention, rather than just recite the lines.

What is pathetic fallacy? The phrase pathetic fallacy is a literary term for the attribution of human emotion and conduct to things found in nature that are not human. It is a kind of personification that occurs in poetic descriptions, when, for example, clouds seem sullen, when leaves dance, or when rocks seem indifferent.

Drswing for tone, texture and proportion

Here is a photograph of my current work

What is tone?
Tone in an artistic context refers to light and dark values used to render a realistic object, or to create an abstract composition. When using pastel, an artist may often use a colored paper support, using areas of pigment to define lights and dark, while leaving bare support to show through as the mid tone.

Social Studies

What is a spiritual?A Spiritual is a type of religious song. They were used to uplift slaves, give them hope, church, birthdays, funerals etc.

Who was Harriet Tubman? Harriet Tubman was an american politic activist. Born into slavery Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the underground railway

Write about a spiritual you chose and highlight some lyrics and the hidden messages behind them. Tubman used “Wade in the Water” to tell slaves to get into the water to avoid being seen and make it through. This is an example of a map song, where directions are coded into the lyrics. These are the lyrics to “Wade in the Water”

Wade in the Water. God’s gonna trouble the water.

Who are those children all dressed in Red?
God’s gonna trouble the water.
Must be the ones that Moses led.
God’s gonna trouble the water,

Here is a video of Wade in the water.

How are these events significant today. They are significant today because they are still used for racial problems for eg black lives matter

Model Atom

Aim: To make a model atom

Method:

1. Choose an atom to make (one between Hydrogen and Neon)

2. Work out how many protons, neutrons and electrons it has.

3. Assign protons and neutrons to a particular colour bead.

4. Get a ball of blue tac and stick the protons and neutrons to this to make your nucleus.

5. Cut out the appropriate electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.

6. Connect the nucleus and electron shells with a piece of string.

7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created.

    Results:

Discussion, Boron: Atomic number =5, mass number =11, Number of protons =5, Number of electrons =5, Number of Neutrons =6

- Electron arrangement: On the inner part of my model atom there was a maximum allowed of two electrons within the 1st ring, on the outer circle aka the second ring there was a maximum of 8 allowed but because of the atom i chose there was only 2.

- 2 facts: Boron has the highest melting point of the metalloids it also has the highest boiling point of the metalloids.

- Conclusion:

- Did it work: Yes

- What would you do differently? Make sure its more stabilised and take my time to make sure it holds well because it wasn't hanging together too well
