Kristalnacht

What is meant by the term Kristalnacht? The name Kristalnacht (Crytal Night) Refers to the shards of broken glass that littered the streets after the windows of Jewish stores, buildings and synagogues were smashed.

When did this even occur? It occured on the 9th of November 1938 - 10th of November 1938.

How many synagogues did the programme claim were burned? In just two day's, more then 1000 syangogues were burned or otherwise damaged.

How many Jews were claimed to have died as a result of this event? Rioters ransacked and looted about  7,500 Jewish buisness, killed at least 91 Jews, and vandalized Jewish hospitals, schools, homes and cemetires. The attackers were often neighbours. 

How many were said to have been sent to concentration camps? Between the 9th and 16th of November, some 30,000 Jewish males aged 16 to 60 were sent to the Buchenwald, Dachau, and Sachsenhausen concentration camps. Many were released within weeks; by 1939, 2000 remained in camps.

What was the reaction of the German people to this event? They blamed the jews for everything.
